Founded in 1997, WorldTrend Security has rapidly expanded its service locations to over ten thousand, employing a security personnel force exceeding four hundreds. With an annual revenue comfortably surpassing four billion NTD, WorldTrend Security has proven itself as a formidable contender in the security industry.
WorldTrend Security’s success can be attributed to its strategic approach in tailoring security solutions to meet the diverse needs of its clients, a feat that has allowed the company to secure contracts with major players in various industries. With a solid foundation built on over two decades of experience, WorldTrend Security continues to carve its path as a rising star in the highly competitive security services sector.
The rise of WorldTrend can be traced back to twelve years ago with the appointment of the current general manager, Gao Yong-hua.
As one of the subsidiaries of Everspring Industry Co., Ltd, a major Taiwanese home security and security alarm equipment manufacturer, WorldTrend faced challenges similar to many small and medium-sized security businesses.
Hindered by the lack of a proprietary R&D system, it had to rely on external purchases, making it difficult to establish a market differentiation and leading to price competition. Although it managed to survive, Gao Yong-hua, the former general manager of Everspring Electronics with a background in electronic engineering, was not content with this situation. Upon taking office in 2011, he immediately implemented two major strategies: expansion and mergers and acquisitions.
He established service centers in cities such as Taichung and Kaohsiung, in addition to those in Taipei, and now has a presence throughout Taiwan. This allows timely fulfillment of customer maintenance needs.
Gao Yong-hua proudly stated, “Every customer is assigned a dedicated customer service representative, and we regularly visit customers to understand their needs.” This successful approach enabled them to overcome the hurdle of developing their own proprietary systems.
“Considering that customers use different systems, in the long run, we must develop our own system,” Gao Yong-hua understood that for WorldTrend, there was still a hurdle to overcome, namely, the “development of a proprietary system.” Integrating the advantages of American and Japanese systems, Gao Yong-hua explained that security systems can generally be divided into Japanese and American systems. The main difference lies in the fact that Japanese systems have signal codes defined by each developer, making them non-interoperable, and customers cannot operate them independently. On the other hand, American codes are globally universal and can be set by customers themselves. There is no superiority or inferiority between the two; they simply operate differently.
In Taiwan, security systems tend to be Japanese, and many businesses are accustomed to using Japanese systems. To meet market demands, WorldTrend naturally inclined towards developing a Japanese-style system. “Everspring follows an American mindset, so progress was slow initially,” Gao Yong-hua said. Through continuous communication with the technical team, it took a year to finally create a proprietary system that integrates the advantages of both Japanese and American systems.
Unexpectedly, this advantage has become the key niche for WorldTrend to enter the high-end market in Europe and America. In entering the high-end market, customized services from WorldTrend play a crucial role. Gao Yong-hua gave an example, stating that in the high-end industry, many brands require that, after the surveillance system reports an incident, the images can be immediately presented in the security center and sent to the owner’s mobile phone. WorldTrend is one of the few companies capable of meeting such specific requirements.
